My definition of the 21st-Century learner encompasses different parts. First, I believe the 21st learner must be able to adapt. With technology changing so quickly, the 21st learner needs to be able to adapt and change with the technology. Secondly, I believe the learner needs to be able to solve problems and sometimes be creative with solving the problem. The learner needs to not be afraid to try different solutions, thinking outside the box, and sometimes failing. The learner needs to see this not as a failure but as a step closer to the solution. Next, the learner needs to have a strong foundation on the basic knowledge- knowing how to read, to write, and to do arithmetic. Finally, the learner needs to be able to communicate with people. The learner may discover the cure for cancer but unless the learner can effectively communicate the findings, no one will know.
